Things were much different in the 16th century. There is so much information and knowledge known today, that was not available to the people back then. There were explorers that needed to travel overseas just to see what it was like on foreign lands. Cabeza de Vaca, a spanish explorer was sent by the spanish king and queen to explore these lands. He was paid for his exploration, in return for the information he brought back to the Europeans. This explorer met Native Americans on these foreign lands, who helped him. There was a peace connection between the explorers and the Native Americans. They helped the explorers survive in these new lands, as well as give them information about it, and even trade with them. These two groups of people were building trust amongst each other. The Native Americans were very religious and thought of the explorers as people of higher rank. This lead to the respect they had for the explorers, and left a good impression for both groups of people, with no need of any violence.
